Wan Animate (also known as Wan 2.2 Animate) is a unified framework for character animation and replacement. It can animate characters by replicating expressions and movements from reference videos, or integrate animated characters into existing videos with seamless environmental integration.

Given a character image and reference video, Wan Animate uses spatially-aligned skeleton signals for body motion control and implicit facial features for expression reenactment, generating high-fidelity character videos with precise replication.

Wan 2.2 introduces Mixture-of-Experts architecture with 27B parameters, upgraded training data, high-compression video generation, and superior performance compared to leading commercial models. Wan 2.2 uses carefully curated aesthetic data with detailed labels for lighting, composition, contrast, color tone, and more. Wan Animate offers flexible deployment options. The TI2V-5B model can run on consumer-grade GPUs and generates 720P videos in under 9 minutes. The full 27B MoE model requires more powerful hardware but delivers superior quality. Both models support various input formats including JPG, PNG, and MP4.
